Brew it your way at Ambergris Brewing
“We are savoring the coffee we brought home and are enjoying it on the weekends!” commented Greg and Suzette Ford on Ambergris Brewing’s Face Book page. Recently opened, this new coffee/brewing shop is already causing quite a stir. Make sure that while you visit Ambergris Caye you make a pit stop and say hello to Michelle and Jeff who hail from San Diego, USA. Equipped with computers and Free WIFI, this is certainly the place for you to get and stay connected with friends and family back home (even if back home is just Belize City). The cool thing about this joint is their cool gay friendly atmosphere. Michelle is the sweetest and Jeff can talk to you for hours.
Located next to the Blue Tang Inn, right on the beach, you can take a seat on one of the outdoor chairs and sip on your favorite coffee drink. Ambergris Brewing is a full espresso bar that uses a combination of powder and syrup when making your coffee, the way it should be. Plus, to ensure that your coffee is the absolute best, the water used for the coffees go through a five time filtration process. “This is to guarantee that nothing affects the true flavor of the coffee,” states Michelle.
The coffee used at Ambergris Brewing is their own blend, Belizean beans are combined with Brazilian ones making the perfect Espresso blend. Grind the beans and the freshness just permeates through. They also produce their own Central American blend, a combination of Costa Rican and Belizean beans, while the Caribbean blend marries Indonesia and Belize. This is certainly a coffee lover’s dream. The Belizean coffee beans’ flavor is accentuated and blends nicely with various beans from around the globe. This is exactly what Ambergris Brewing is planning to bring to Ambergris Caye, a new flavor to our coffee experience.
We took a walk over to Ambergris Brewing, Cori absolutely loves her coffee so we had to check this place out. It was a sunny day after all so I chose to indulge in the Frappucino while Cori enjoyed the Central American blend. We could not help but notice the delicious bread and pastries Michelle had prepared. She actually makes most of her delicious pastries from her home (located on the second floor of the building) or at the shop. Needless to say the aromas are always amazing. Her creations are based from recipes passed down generation to generation to generation, she of course makes some changes based on our altitude and the availability of fresh products. Banana Bread, Cinnamon Rolls, Chocolate Chip Muffins, Brownies, Cupcakes, Zucchini and Strawberry Breads, yum – a lesbian’s delight that is for sure. Home made is definitely the way to go when you talk about breads and pastries, Michelle certainly knows what she’s doing.
That’s not it though, pizza, pizza and more pizza. Ambergris Brewing makes beer crusted pizzas, can you imagine? Yes, the flavors abound and you can chose our favorite toppings, make it a cheese, pepperoni or Hawaiian pizza. The San Pedro, we have to come back and try, sounds like a weird combo but am wondering how great it actually tastes. Mozzarella, Pineapple, Banana and Smoked Ham, hmm … the beer crust should make up for it, am sure. Michelle and Jeff are certainly whipping things up.
There are so many things I certainly want to try at Ambergris Brewing like their Belgium waffles and their panini’s. They are certainly a coffee shop and much much more. Ambergris Brewing is open everyday from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. so don’t forget to drop in. Find them on Face Book by clicking here.
