It is best to make advance reservations during our peak season, which begins in November and can continue to June. For your convenience we offer free pick-up and drop-off from and to the airstrip.

Policies

• All renters must have a valid driver’s license.
• There is no refund for any unused time or early return. No refund on prepaid gas.
• All carts must be returned with a full tank of gas, unless prepaid. Please note that the gas station closes at 5:00pm and opens at 8:00am. As a result, it is strongly recommended to prepay for gas so as not to be inconvenienced.
• A Refundable security deposit of $200US or $400BZ is required.
• A $30 BZ charge will be issued for unreturned locks, keys, or chains
• Maximum persons is 4 on 4-seater golf carts
• Do not leave keys in the carts when parked
• Golf Carts must be locked at all times when parked.
• No drinking alcohol while driving.
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol
• Abide by all road rules

Road Rules of San Pedro

• There are only three main streets in San Pedro, Front St. (Barrier Reef Dr.), Middle St. (Pescador Dr.) and Back St (Angel Coral St.)
• Front street is one way heading North, Middle street is one way heading South, Back street is both ways. All other streets that run across are one way.
• On the Front street parking from the 1st- 15th of each month is on the right hand side, from the 16th – end of the month is on the left hand side.
• Middle and Back street parking is always on the right hand side.
• Front street is closed to vehicles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
• Carry your driver’s license when driving a golf cart.
• Drive on the right side of the road and use hand signals while turning.
• Follow all other traffic rules.

Founded in 1979 by Johnny Greif III with just a single airplane and 2 employees, we now employ over 200 people and offer over 180 daily scheduled flights throughout Belize and Flores, Guatemala. They pride themselves in the many services they offer and realize that their 27 years of success would not be possible without the continued support of their customers.

Tropic Air operates a fleet of factory new Cessna Caravans equipped to carry passengers and their baggage. Due to the size of our aircraft there are certain limitations to the size and amount of carrying capacity and baggage. Tropic Air permits each passenger one (1) carry on and two (2) checked bags with the following dimensions:

Carry on maximum weight of 30 lbs., 40 linear inches and being no larger than 8″x20″x8″ and must fit under the seat. Each checked bag has a maximum weight of 35lbs., 62 linear inches with a width limited to 30 inches and height of 15 inches. Excess and oversized baggage will be evaluated, charges assessed, and will be shipped on a space available basis. All baggage must be checked in at the Tropic Air counter and have a numbered baggage tag.

All pets must be in a kennel or kennel bag which is supplied by the owner. Depending on the size of the kennel we will determine whether the pet will require a seat. If a seat is necessary, the kennel must be strapped into the back seat at all times. The medium or large kennels may have to pay for one, two or possible three seats depending on the size of the kennel. Passengers also have the option to charter an aircraft to transport their pets.

San Pedro Express also offers a new run from San Pedro, Ambergris Caye to Chetumal, Mexico. The boats run from Friday to Monday (at present there are no runs on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday). They leave San Pedro (from the Ambergris Divers dock) at 8:30 am and leave Chetumal Municipal Pier at 3:00 pm. Note: Be sure to be back to the Municipal Pier well before 3:00 pm.

If you are travelling from Mexico to San Pedro and have been in Mexico for more than 7 days, be sure to have 280 pesos on hand for a departure fee (they will not accept US dollars or Belize dollars and there are no banks nearby). If you begin your travel in San Pedro you do not have to pay the departure fee. The cost of a round trip ticket is $55 US ($110 Bz), One way price is $30US ($60 Bz).

San Pedro to Belize City (and viceversa): $12.50US One Way, $22.50US Round Trip. Caye Caulker to Belize City (and viceversa): $7.50 US One Way, $12.50US Round Trip

If you enter Belize by air then its only 20 minutes drive to from the Airport to the San Pedro – Belize Water Taxi Terminal. Ask the taxi driver to take you to the ‘San Pedro Water Taxi Terminal’. We are located at #111 North Front Street Brown Sugar Market Place next to the City Hall. You will then catch your boat, which is spacious and comfortable with full canopy. The boat ride lasts approximately one hour from Belize City to the beautiful Island Town of San Pedro.

You can also reach the Island from the northern District of Corozal. The boats leave Corozal Town at 7:00am and 3:00PM daily for San Pedro. The boat ride is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

San Pedro Water Taxi aims to provide its passengers with the most comfortable and reliable marine taxi and charter services. They also provide a mail and freight service that delivers on the scheduled times for the Taxi runs.

There are 2 (two) ways to get to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
1. Land/Sea – Outside Philip Goldson International there will be taxis waiting. They are usually cars /vans. You can travel by taxi (which costs approx 30US one-way) to your watertaxi terminal for San Pedro Belize Express located at Tourist Village. You will approach the terminal and purchase tickets at the rate of 12.50US pp/one-way or 22.50US pp/round trip. These boats leave every hr to 1.5hrs, and the travel time is approx 1hr. 2. By Air- Once you exit Belize Customs, someone will escort you and your luggage to the domestic air terminal. It is better to pre-book your tickets (of course we can do this for you) to assure you of space on the flight. Although more expensive than traveling by land/sea, it also is only a 15min flight compared to 1.5-2hrs by land or sea. The actual rate of this flight is 63US pp/one-way or 120US pp/round trip. You will give your name, present your eticket), get your boarding pass, go through security and board your flight. These flights leave once an hour (on the 40min), and you will arrive 15minutes later in San Pedro. You can walk out from the airstrip to await your luggage, where there will be taxi cabs waiting to assist you to your destination.
